Ralph Knott returns from trip to California on his motorbike, July 1974

Long-Distance Rider When 20-year-old Ralph Knott arrived at his parents' home at 513 Potter, there was a large welcome home banner out. Knott had ridden his motorcycle all the way from California. It took him four days to reach Ann Arbor from Hunter Liggett Military Reservation, near Monterey. Knott has been serving in the U.S. Army there. He carried only tools on the trip, spending nights in motels along the route. Following a month's vacation, Knott will spend his final year with the Army in Germany.
