It's a concrete fact: This vegetable garden at 5150 Marton Rd., Pittsfield township is growing right out of a concrete slab- or rather, up through holes in a concrete slab, which was once a shed floor. Mary Lou Payeur, 14, playfully demonstrates how one might cultivate a concrete garden by using a pickax. Her father, A. H. Payeur, broke holes in the concrete and planted his vegetables. Everything's doing fine.
