New Minister Named For Ypsilanti Church

YPSILANTI — A new minister was named today to the pastorate of the First Congregational Church, here.

He is the Rev. John Adams, who is associate minister of the Plymouth Congregational Church in Shaker Heights, O., a suburb of Cleveland.

The Rev. Mr. Adams will take up his duties in March, when he and his family will arrive in the city.

He will preach his first regular sermon on March 31.

The Rev. Mr. Adams will fill the vacancy in the pulpit created last Sept. 1, when the Rev. John W. Metier resigned to become a teacher at public schools in Clinton.

The Rev. Mr. Adams is 28 years of age, a graduate of Hope College and Andover Newton Seminary. He was associate minister at the Ohio church for three years.

His wife, Jane, is a graduate of Albion College. They have two children, a boy, 1, and a girl, three weeks.

The parents of both the Rev. Mr. and Mrs. Adams live in Saginaw.

In the absence of a regular pastor, the Rev. Paul Nicely, assistant to the director of the Institute for Advance Pastoral Studies at Cranbrook, the Rev. C. Y. Boyd, retired minister living in Ypsilanti and teaching in Romulus, and Dr. Paul H. Emerich, superintendent of the Ypsilanti public schools, have been filling the pulpit.
