Will Assume Pulpit Sunday

To Conduct First Service As Pastor

Friday June 30, 1961

YPSILANTI—The Rev. Robert P. Ward will conduct his first service as pastor of Ypsilanti’s First Methodist Church at 10 a.m. Sunday.

He succeeds the Rev. W. Clyde Donald who has retired after 14 years as pastor of the church.

Sermon topic Sunday will be “Why Am I Here.” The Rev. Mr. Ward comes to Ypsilanti from the First Methodist Church, Marquette, where he was pastor for four years. Prior to that time he was pastor of the First Methodist Church at Troy for three years, and associate minister at Westlawn Methodist Church, Detroit, for two years.

The Rev. Mr. Ward holds an AB degree from Duke University and his bachelor of divinity degree from Yale University.

He and his wife, Joan, and daughter, Wendy, 2, will live at 207 N. Adams St., Ypsilanti.
