Rose Show’s Top Winners Announced

Eight top winners have been announced from among over 600 exhibits at the largest Annual Rose Show yet conducted by the Huron Valley Rose Society Sunday.

Dr. A. A. Christman of 1613 Shadford took top honors for Queen of the Show, while Ruth Parmener of 1619 Pontiac entered the Princess of the Show, and Thomas Taylor of Ypsilanti received an award for Prince of the Show.

An entry by George Bird of Ypsilanti was named Countess of the Show (best floribunda); Mrs. Phil E. Spear of 1701 Greenview, Court of the Show (best grandiflora); Wayne Behling of Ypsilanti, best old fashioned rose; Mrs. Jane Bird of Ypsilanti, best arrangement; and David Scott of Ypsilanti best junior exhibit.

Forty-eight prizes were awarded in all. According to Dr. Gilbert Small, chairman, about 1,300 persons attended the show and open house at the University Matthaei Botanical Gardens.
