Ann Arborite On Assignment In The Congo

Robert Ransom, a member of the First United Methodist Church of Ann Arbor, has started a two-year service assignment in the Congo under direction of the Mennonite Central Committee, an international church relief and service agency.

Ransom recently received his bachelor of arts degree in sociology from the U-M. He will be working as a mechanic in Kinshasa.

Ransom’s parents are Dr. and Mrs. Eugene Ransom. Dr. Ransom had been director of the Wesley Foundation of the Ann Arbor First Methodist Church for 17 years before recently leaving for Nashville, Tenn., to become director of the Department of Campus Ministry of the United Methodist Church.

The Mennonite Central Committee has about 600 men and women serving in the United States, Canada and 30 other foreign countries as teachers, nurses, doctors, agriculturalists, social workers and other specialists.
