The line seporating Mineíota f rom Michigan is in Lake Superior, and that separating it from Wisconsin passes along Lake Superior to the Fa lis of thf ft. Louis river, and thence south tiil it strikes the river St. Croix, which it folio ws to the Mi-sissippi. Thence down the Missisiippi to latitude 434, the place of beginning. " EmWaced vyilhin these boundarics there are ahout 00,000 square miles - equal to 58,00,000 of acres. It is in ncarly the same latitude as the State of Maine. In area it exceeds the Island of Great Britain, and it is nearly equa] to F ranee. Comparing it with olij States, it is as large ns New York and Pennsylvania. For the production of whe;it and the grasfrs,its soil and climate ara favorable. - Now, it nppears to the people of the United States ns extremely distant and interior. So did Wisconsin fiftnon years ago. In commercial advantnges, it will not be one of the most favored of the Siates, nor yct one of the least. By means of Lake Superior, on which it borders for more tlian one hundrod miles, from Pigeon River lo Fond du Lac, its northern and middle portion will have cheap comniuivcation with all the Lalce sl.ores, and the Atlantic, nnd through the Upper Mississippi nnd St. Peter's Rivers, will hold easy intercourse with the whole great vallpy below.
