Outdoor Pool Construction Moves Ahead

Construction is under way on the Ann Arbor area’s newest recreational facility, the Huron Valley Swim Club’s outdoor swimming pool at 4661 Park Rd. in Scio township

The excavation for the L-shaped pool has been completed, footings and foundation are in for the bath house, wells have been drilled for the water supply and roadways and parking areas have been prepared.

A “baby” pool will be built adjacent to the adult pool and picnic playground areas will be prepared.

Promoters of the project, seven local couples, announced today that Don Dufek, assistant backfield coach at the University, will be the club’s manager for the 1958 season.

They also said the pool will be made available to various YMCA, Boy Scout, church and other youth groups at prescribed times during the summer.

Membership in the club, a private, nonprofit organization, is limited to 400 couples.
