St. Thomas Tells Class-Return Plans
St. Thomas School, which expects more than 1,000 students to be enrolled this year, has announced details regarding the first day of school.
Elementary school students will start school on Sept. 6. All first grade children will report to the auditorium at 8:45 a.m. where they will be met by their teachers and conducted to their respective classrooms. After an hour’s session, the children will return to their parents in the auditorium.
All students in grades two through eighth will report to the rooms in which they were last year. Directions for changing to new rooms will then be given them.
High school students will report to school on Sept. 7. The freshmen (grade nine) will report to rooms that will be designated in church Sunday. After necessary business has been conducted, the freshmen will tour the school.
Grades 10, 11 and 12 will report at 1 p.m. to the rooms they occupied last year. Further directions will be given there. The Tuesday morning session will last about an hour and the students will be free the rest of the day to purchase books and supplies.
No hot lunches will be served in the cafeteria until Monday, Sept. 11. However, milk may be purchased on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday of the first week of school.
