1,460 Pupils To Enroll At Two Catholic Schools

About 1,460 parochial students will return to classes next week in the city’s two Catholic schools. The public school system is expecting a record enrollment of more than 14,000 students this fall.

With registration already accomplished last spring, 450 students in grades one through eight will have their first full day of classes on Wednesday, Sept. 4, at St. Francis of Assisi School.

Three hundred and forty high school students and 670 grade sehool pupils will enroll Sept. 4, at St. Thomas School.

The enrollment schedule is as follows: High school, ninth, 8:30 a.m.; 10th, 10:30 a.m.; 11th, 1:15 p.m. and 12th, 2:30 p.m. The grade school youngsters will enroll beginning at 1:30 p.m. The enrollment procedure includes getting class schedules and books.

A trial run of the class schedule with dismissal at 11:30 a.m. is planned for Thursday, Sept. 5, at 9 a.m. The first full day of school at St. Thomas will be Friday, Sept. 6.

According to the St. Thomas principal, Mother Stephanie, there will be several faculty changes this year. New faculty members on the high school level include Jerome Johnston and James Brennan, social studies; Mrs. Julie Schumacker, speech; Mrs. Jean Crook, girls physical education; Miss Nadine Peterson, biology and Sister Marie Celine, commercial.

Changes on the elementary level are Mrs. Judy Schwartz, second; Mrs. Karen Angers, third; Sister Coletta, fourth; Mrs. Jane McNiven, fifth; Mrs. Diane Malinowski sixth, and ---- seventh.
