They consider it ns dcitlging the nviin quoMion - is slaveholding a sin? That it wil! not sntisfy members of southern churches, is abunda ntly obvious. Such a declaration, so solemnlv put forth, - adeclaratioa of 'deep and unalterable opposition' to the prevailing state of things at the souih, at a time when the lawifiss fanaticism is straining evcry ncrve for the dissolution of the Union, and the destruction of social order ; - a declararon which makes it the daly of nl! men to aid in upturning existing institutions, and re-organizinglhe elements of society, and virtually turns the Alliance into an anti-slavery society, will not soon be subscribed by a Southern man, whatever his private opinions might be." By this temporizing course,lhe Alliance has los', the confidence both of the Nortli and the South. All indications now seern to show that its existence will be merely nominal.
