Art Faculty Exhibits Works At U Museum

An exhibition of about 75 pieces by 23 members of The University art faculty is currently on display in the Museum of Art in Alumni Memorial Hall. It will continue until Feb. 14.

The works, in contemporary vein, employ a wide variety of media and a wealth of new materials, including knotted rope, epoxy, mirrors, fur, plexiglass, gold leaf and leather, as well as traditional watercolor and oil and acrylics.

Faculty artists whose works are being shown are Richard Sears, Albert Weber, David Reider, Mignonette Cheng, John Stephenson, Tom McClure, Chet LaMore, Albert Mullen, Julia Andrews, Guy Palazzola, William Lewis, Gerald P. Hodge, John Thomson, Wendel Heers, Maurice Vance, Robert Stull, Gerome Kamrowski, Thomas Larkin, Tem Ramsay, Jon Rush, Phil Davis, Denis Lee and Richard Wilt.

Included in the exhibition are macrame hangings of knotted rope, including an unusual piece which incorporates a masklike effect, by Gerald Hodge; a ceramic sculpture, with mirror insert, the whole topped by black fur and a ceramic emblem, by Robert Stull; a tall sculpture entitled “Wind Mill,” a delightful fantasy whose brightly colored, curiously shaped wooden blades can be made to rotate, by Gerome Kamrowski; and two unusual pieces by Ted Ramsay — one, “Coke Radio,” of epoxy, wood and ceramic, offering a ceramic coke bottle perched on a small radio, and another, “Love Mill Pillbox,” a small female figure in a work composed of leather, wood and epoxy.
