The Emperor of Rimia lian recently vibiteJ tlc iplendid establishment of Messrs ilarrison Winans & Eastwick, (for lhe construction of railroad locomotivos ibr the use oí the Russian Government. He was delighled with the trumph of American genius and skill, and ordered the Cross of St. Anne to be conferred upon Maj. G. W. Wliistler, the American engineer, and diamond rings to be preented to the contraclors, Messra Ilarrison, Winans & Eastwick. The establishment employs at present 1920 workmen, including 1618 Russians, 121 Germans. 104 Sweedes, 17 English, and 5 Americans, - whic'a number embraces the wliole number of furemen and workmen. The contracta of Messrs Ilarrison, Winans &Eastwck embrace 1C4 twenty-five ton locomotivos and tenders ; 530G iron tiucks for eighi-wheel cars ; '2500 eightwheel freight cars, 70 passenger cars,and two improved cars sixteen vvheels, eighly feet long. Out of which are now Gnishfld 108 locomotives vvith their tenders, 5-200 iron trucks, 906 freight and two passenger cars.
