The hut number of ihe Morning Star, Dover, N. H., conmina a protest nnd deelarntion of eiitiinent upon the subject f Slavery, signpd by sOitm four hundred ministers uf the Freewill Baptist danomination. The follouing valunble extract from their protest is w rlh rending, and will encourage msny who are beginning to dcspair of the chiirch and the clergy. ''Bcüpving, ns e do, that the sympalliy of no holy being in the Universe can for a moment be gien to this foul system, and that neillier ihe principies of thé Gos; o!, nor iudicaiions of Providenco constilute tlie least npolngy for its continuance, w wisL publicly to withdraw all implied or supposed voluntary politica! or moral support of tliis enormous evil. Our necessary and involunlary connection witli (he civil and social urganizations now existing, whiph seems to givetoeach of ds the chnracter and reputatiou of the body, unltss by personal pub'ic dissent irom their errors and crimes, we throw tho responsibility exc'usively upon those who support the evils of wbich w e ccimlain, renders it more necessnry for us to iinnounce our nnwilüngness to sanction ihe system of Jlvery in any manner whaiever. The view tbus taken of this subject will rendar it perfectly inconsistent for us to givs our sufFrages or religious influencefur the support of Slavery. " We llierelbre, by refusing to support Slavery, its principies, its advocates, and by withholding Christinn and church fellowbbip from all'guilty of the sin of slaverv, and by remembering those in boiids as bound with thern, would wish to wash our hands from the guilt of this iniquity. "Believing principies just, and the position we occupy s-jch ns God can approve and defend, and Irusting in Almigb. ty Grace, we pledge for the support of these principies, and those in whicli they are embodied, our earxest trayers, our COMBI NED INFLUENCE, and OUT MOST VIGOROUS EKFORTS."
