All kinds of paragraphs on tbis subject nnpear in ihe papers. His letter o the Cincinnati Signal was fo'lowed by others of a similar character, announcing that he wouH not be a party candidate. The Signal letter was denounced at first by some of ihe warrnest Taylor papers as a forgery ; but its genuineness is now universally acknowledged. Some of the Whig papers disposed to support Gen. Taylor have since wisely manifested a disposition to back out from his support, preferring lo give their influence for an open and avowed VVhig: while others, which are looking after public printing, or other spoils, are ready togo for him at all events. No one can yet predict the end of this state of things. If the old General wrfll wrile n few more letters, he will probably get himself fastened into a more definite and tangible position.
