Like Father... Ypsilanti Patrolman James Olson (left) receives from his father, Ann Arbor Police Department Deputy Chief Harold E. Olson, a certificate indicating completion of a police recruit program sponsored by the Michigan Law Enforcement Officers Training Council. Young Olson, an army veteran who served two years in Vietnam, has joined the Ypsilanti Police Department. He completed a four-week training course at the County Service Center under supervision of the Ann Arbor police. Deputy Chief Olson has been a city officer for the past 25 years.
