Senntor Josepli 11. Underwood, Jan. 18, 1835, in nn address delivered at Frankfort, laid down the following propobitions: 1. That slave labor costs inore than freo. Prooi', tliose s'.ales without slaves surpassed those that hold them, and sell produclions of the saine kind,rased by the slave, cheaper. 2 Free stales surpass tho slave in all the comforts of life. 3. Slavery violates the principies of the Deelaralion of [ndopendence. 4. Tlie masters' slaves are a great disadvantnge to his ehiliiren. 5. Valuable citizens aro quitting the s-tate on account of slavery. 6. The rapid increase of the slave over the white pnpulalioii. 7. Many christinns believe slavery to be incompatible with the trulhs of the Bïule. We shall give hereafter, his reasons fof these propositions. They are slrongly put, and should be well considered.
