From 1939 through 1946, Ann Arbor News photographer Eck Stanger took hundreds of photographs of World War II military personnel, from formal portraits of draftees and volunteers to more casual portraits of recently returned POWs, soldiers home on furlough, and veterans.

This exhibit displays a few favorites from among the hundreds -- some published in the newspaper and some never-before-seen — in our Ann Arbor News Archive. The full collection is available online at aadl.org/wwii.
