High, Robert P.

Ypsilanti, MI

Age 70, died suddenly April 6, 1994 at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital. Mr. High was born July 19, 1924 in Ann Arbor, the son of John B. and Isadore (Arons) High, and had been a lifelong area resident, retiring after 32 years from the Ann Arbor Public Schools, where he worked as the supervisor of Capital Planning. He served with the U.S. Navy Submarine Division during World War II. He married Virginia Laskowski on November 27, 1947 in Chicago, IL. Mr. High was also involved with the Breakfast Optimist Club, Grass Lake Rifle Club, Elk Lodge #1744 of Melbome, FL, and was a member of the Airstream WBCCI for over 20 years. He is remembered as a loving and devoted husband and father by his survivors, which include his wife Virginia; five sons, Raymond High, Robert (Ellen) High Jr., and William (Joan) High, all of Ann Arbor, Daniel High and Michael (Karin) High of Louisiana; five grandchildren, Robert III, Sara, Jessica, John and Andrew; one sister, Jessie Parkhurst of Aurora, IL; and a brother, Jean (Olga) High of Sterling Hts, MI. Preceding him in death were his parents; two brothers, Dr. Leroy B. High and Col. J. Russell High. Memorial contributions may be made in his honor to the American Heart Assoc., P.O. Box 721129, Berkley, MI 48072. Envelopes are available at the NIE FUNERAL HOME, 2400 Carpenter Rd. where the family will receive friends from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday, April 8, 1994 and from 12:30-2 p.m. Saturday, April 9, 1994 when the funeral services will be held with Dr. Robert Potts officiating. Entombment will follow at Washtenong Memorial Park.
