Pork Queen Applications Are Available
Girls interested in running for Michigan Pork Queen can still obtain applications for the title.
Applications can be obtained from Don Zeeb of 3300 W. Joy Rd. He said potential candidates must be at least 17 years old, and either live on a hog farm or have parents who raise hogs. Zeeb added that applications should be obtained this week.
The new state pork queen will be crowned by the present queen Judy McCalla, 20, of 4100 Stone School Rd. on March 25 during Farmers Week Activities in East Lansing.
So far, seven girls are vying for the title. They include two girls from Washtenaw County, Judy’s sister, Jo Ann, 18, a freshman at Eastern Michigan University, and Marlene Girbach, 18, of Saline, a freshman at Michigan State University.
