The Clyde Beatty-Cole Bros. Circus is coming to Ann Arbor on Aug. 7. The circus will be located at Carpenter and Packard Rd. grounds. Performances are scheduled afternoon and night at 2 and 8 p.m.
The Optimist Club, of Ann Arbor is again sponsoring the circus with the proceeds to be devoted to the civic and charitable activities of the organization. An advance sale of circus tickets is now being conducted throughout the area by the Optimist, Club members.
There are 600 people with the Clyde Beatty-Cole Bros. Circus with more than 150 performers recruited from 15 different countries. An extensive menagerie with a large variety of wild animals, including elephants and a 5-ton hippopotamus is carried, with the circus.
Among the features of the show will be David Hoover, presenting the mixed group of Beatty-Cole lions and tigers in the steel arena; The Flying Appolos, somersaulting aerialists; the Troupe Suarez, bare-back riders; the Les Blocks, company of high-wire performers; Mile. Maryse Begary, high trapeze artist from France: the Ferry Forst Company of Austrian Illusionists; the Oscarians, acrobats; the Crispin Troupe of teeter-board artists; Tibor Alexander’s Wonder Dogs; Don Marco, balancing on one finger; the Zerbini Troupe of acrobats: the Ferreiras, high atop a balancing pole; the Ruwills, foot balancers and trainer Fred Logan with his performing elephants.
Doors to the circus tent will open at 1 and 7 p.m.
