Tlio Galvesion Weekly News is llie organ of ihe Texan Government, and of conree isdeath on the VVilmnt Proviso. It maintains that the principias of tliat Proviso are neithcr Wliig nor Democratie, but are "northern principies in opposition to southcrn interest?," and goes for tlieir defeat by the election of Taylor. - It goes on to show that Slavery and F reedom are henceforth to be the true political issues. It concludes thus: "Froni all this, and many other convincing indications, we can come to no other conclusión, than that the great issue between the Norrh and South-, is now fairlymade up. The struggle which we havo long viewcl at a disfincp, is now ttipidly Spproaching. The 81ve States must either be uniled and triumph or abandon their dqmesiic institutions furever. Fortunately all parlies can consislcntly unite on Gen. Taylor, for their pnst poliiical diflerencps are no luner at issue. The elertion of Gen, Taylor is neilher a iriumph of one party, nor the defeat of ihe other; but it wil] be a signul Iriumph of the .vhole South in this war vpon their consl.ilulional fighis. Nor ís it easy lo poirU lo any otlivr man ieho cnuld so etfectually nnile lite Souli. The independent attitude he has assumed, prculiarly qualifies liim for the. present crisis; and if, on the oiher hand, he "wi ] not receive the vote of a single free state in the Union," we believe", on tbr. other, that he will receive the ote of every other."
