He left the whole matter to ihe unbia;sed eletermimtion of this asvmblngo of his friends, represpnlin as ihey did, those noble men wlio have stood by him so fir:nly during tlie politica 1 struggles of the l'ist tliee years. Thev have now decided, not that they liad confidence in him as tlie tried and sterling champion of liberly, (for of this they had given reiterated proofs) but, that t was their desire that his name t.lnuld he )laced on the list of those frotn which the Liberly party is to select i:s President tial candidale.
