SON RECEIVES DEAD FATHER'S AWARD: Richard Otto Donner, 11-year-old son of Mrs. Virginia Kappler of Whitmore Lake, receives a firm handshake and a Silver Star medal, awarded posthumously to his father, Major Otto H. Donner, who was killed in December, 1944. Mrs. Kappler, who stands behind the boy, has recently re-married. Left to right in the above picture are Lt. Col. N. W. Dragneff, who presented the awards; Richard, his mother, Mrs. Fred Henes of Dexter, who received a Silver Star awarded posthumously to her son, Paul; and Lt. Col. Dudley J. Scholten, who was awarded a Legion of Merit at the ceremonies in the Armory.
