The Rev. William G. Sodt of Milwaukee, Wis., brother of Fred Sodt of Ann Arbor and a native of Washtenaw county, died Thursday in an Oconomowoc, Wis., hospital.

In poor health about five years, he had retired about four years ago as superintendent of Lutheran Hospital at Milwaukee. The Rev. Mr. Sodt was born in Freedom township Sept. 11, 1893. He was graduated from Wartburg Seminary at Dubuque, Ia., in 1917 and held pastorates at American Lutheran Churches at Berea, O., and Alpena. Later he was stewardship secretary at the denomination's Columbus, O., office. For some time he was national first vice-president of the denomination, a position he held until the early 1940's.

His wife, Julia, whom he married in 1918 at Clinton, Ia., survives as do two sons, William Sodt, jr., a Marine chaplain at Corpus Christi, Tex., and Paul, who lives near Milwaukee; a married daughter, Carol, of Milwaukee, and his brother here.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Milwaukee.
