Preliminary court hearings for two teen-agers charged in the murder of a man trying to stop purse-snatchers last month were adjourned Wednesday until Feb. 14. Darrin Ray Watkins, 17, of 8876 MacArthur Blvd., Superior Township, and Thomas Edward Ross, 17, of Inkster, are charged with first-degree murder and armed robbery in the Jan. 25 fatal shooting of Donald Schroeder, 37, who witnesses said intervened in a foiled purse snatching outside the K Mart store at 3100 Washtenaw Ave.
