Sparky’s Car, Feelings Hurt By Collision

Walter (Sparky) Harrison's shiny Christmas present is a little dented today — but everything’s going to be all right.

The new sedan, presented last Thursday by University Sigma Chis as a surprise present to the colored porter who had faithfully served them for 19 years, was damaged in a traffic accident at E. Huron St. and Fourth Ave. yesterday afternoon.

After coming in contact with a car driven by Eugene Louis, of 1411 Coler Rd., the right rear fender of the new automobile was crushed. So was the grille of Louis’ car. And so was Sparky.

"What will I tell the boys?” moaned the amiable, 61-year-old handy man. "In fact, what will I tell my wife?”

This morning, however, the situation had cleared. The Maroon sedan was about to be repaired, with the costs being borne by insurance. And Mrs. Harrison, when asked about the accident, was saying, “It could have happened to anyone.”
