Ann Arbor, Oct. 18, 1847. Board met n the nñenioon, caüed to order by the chairman. Prosent all the Supervisors. Mr E VV Morgan, in belialf of the heirs of E VV Rumsey, laid befure the Board a resolution of the Board of Supervisors passed March 7, 1838, relntive lo ihe jai) squ.ire, and also a deed f:om the Superviiort to the heirs of said Rurnspy, conveying all the interest of the county in snid jail square to said heirs ; also a df"ed from three of the six heirs of snid Rurmey, conveying to the coiinty onohalf of said square. He sated ihai his object in laying Ihis subject before ihe boord wns, that the board iiiig'ht take rneaI sures to dispose of, or divide said property with Ihe sairi' heir?, os thry were anxus to realize some benefit from their half, MrSalyer moved that a coramittee of three be appointpd lo Inke measures to effect a sale or división of said jai] square with the said heirs. The board appointed the following persons said committee : Messrs. Becker, Whitmore, Snlyer. Mr Wliiimore from committee on orgnnizntion, winde a report which was nccepied, laid on tlie table, nnd the consideration of t indefinitely postp.-yned. On moiionof Mr McLune acommitiee ofihree ere appointedon tlie application oflhe county clïrk, for the llowance o a sneciñe saín for his services. Messrs. Moslier, VVhitmore and War ner, were appointed said commiitee. On moiion, tha Board adjourmng unfil 2 o'clock P Ai. AFTERNOOX. Bonrd mpt pursunnt to adjournment, and was called to order by ihe chairmon. Mr Gillet, from the committee apoofnted to visit the Poor House, made a verba] report, that ihey had visited nndfnspecied ihe Poor [Joui-e, nd fnund it, with bui few pxceptions, in good order. He wonld suggest that ihe boord raise the amount of 100 to defray the expense of purchnsing nnd ereciing a furnace to warm a part o; the Poor House. On motion tlie report was accepted. On motion il was Resolved, Thai the sum of $100 be ralsed by ihe board to defray the expendes of purchnsing nnd ereciing a furnace o warm certain cells in the poor house. Mr Moslier, from the committeeappoined on Ihe applicntion ofthecounty clerk, for a specific ellownnce for h:s services, made a report ihat they had e-xamrned he sums allowpd heretofore lo the clerk. nd believed that the sum asked wos onaljle. Mr Giflel moved that the sum of $250 ie nlTowed the connty clprk in full lor is services Tor the current year, which was carried. The report of the committec on equal ization was taken up, upöh motion of M Vnn Cleve. Mr VVhitmore moved the adoption o ihe report. A motion was made to refer the repor back to the audlting committee, and tha three members be rtdded to the committee, and upon that quesiion the veas and nays were demanried, which resulted as follows : yens 11 nays 9. Yens - Messrs. Becker, Carver, Conklin, Granger, Howard, Jones, McLane, Van Cleve, Warner, Yocum - 11. Nays - Messrs. Boynton, Crippn, Gillet, H.-iight, Kimberly, Mosher, Pomeroy, Sheldon, Whitmore- 9. So the report wns referred, nnd the boardoppointed Messrs. Walker, McLane and Pomerny the ndditional members of ihf committee. On motiofi, 5he bonrd ndjourned until to-morrov morning at 8 o'clock. Oclober 20, 1847. Board met pursunnt to adjournment, and wascalled to order by the President. All the inembers present. The journal ofyesterday was read and approved. Mr Van Cleve, from commitlee on claims, made a report accompanied by he following claims, which were discussed and nílowed by íhe board as follows : 85. C H Van Cleve, services as justice in cri.-ninal cases, $34,53 86. Thompson & Bach, Tor merchandise, j 13 87. R Bos?, services as constable in crimina] casos, 2,22 88. T Alexnnder, services as constable in crirriBal cases, 27,83 Tho petition relalive to the appointment of cnmmissioners under the law providing fur draining swnmps and marshes presenled some days since, iVas taken np. Mr Jones rrroved the prayer of said titione rs be not gianted. The motion was carried in the affirmativo. Mr Whitmore, fro$ the commitlpe on equalizfition, made a report wliicli was accepied, and. on the quesiion of its adopl!on n discussion arose. Mr. Van Cleve moved thnt S'3,000 be aken f rom ihe assessment of Ypsüonti and added to that of Saline, which was lost. The question was tlien taken on' the adoption of ffie report of the equalizing committee by veas and nays as follows : Yeas- Messrs. Becker, Cnrver,Hnght, Jones, Kiinberly, McLane, Pomeroy, Salyer, Sheldon, Warner, Whitmore, Yoeum- la. Ñavs- Messrs. Boynton, Cripprn, Conklin, Gillet, Granger, Howard, Van Cleve- 7. Absent - Mr Mosher. So the reporí 6f the equalization commutee was adopied as follow5 : And the aggretpte aluation of all the real and personal properly of snid county of VVashtenaw as equalized by the Board of Supervisors, was fhed at two milüons ihree hundrcd and seventy-two thousand four hundred and seven dollars. On motion of Mr Salyer, it wns resolved tliat ihe Boaid now proceed to the election of hree suitab.'e persons for Superintendents of the county Pour, whieh resulted in tb election of Hernán Ticknor, Norman A. Phelps and Rufus Malhews for Superiniencitnis of the Poot of WashHem courny, for one jear from he firsit of Jarirary next. Onmotronof Mr. Haight t was Resolved, That whereas Mr Boy?on roposes to remove thedeafnnd dumb -Boy. now in county Poor Houso to he deaf and dumb Institution in Columus, Ohio, thot tha sum of one hundrod i n3 twmty.fíve dollars be raisod and propristad for ïhat purpose, to ba placed n the hands of the Su-erintendenls of ihe county Poor, to be paid to Mr Buy Ion on presenting to said Superinlendents certifícales thit said boy is received in snid Institution. Mr Whitmore, from the committee appointed by the Board of last year, to nscertain the amount of indebtednes of the several towns to the county, made n repoit that they had examined ihe Tieis nrer's Books and found (he following deficiences, viz: - Interest on same 10 years at Making a deficiency from these tovvns of$17S4,14. And report ihat tl.ey find no other towns deficiënt. Ou moiion the report was adopted and aCter sorae discussion the furlht;r coi'sideration of the subject was deferred until the next anual session of the Board. On motion of Mr McLane it was resolved that the chair appoint a commitiee of three members to fix upon a componsation each Supervisor should receive for making out the tax rolis for the p esent year. The chair nppoirit'e'd Mesrrs. Salyer, McLane nnd -.-, said com. The chairman of the committee appointed by the board of Supervisors of 1846, to cause the books in the county Trensurer's to be tranicribed, by Mr Whitmore, made a report. Mr Van Cleve, from cofrïmitteé on claims made a report nccompanied by the füllowing claims which were passed by the Board. Mr Van Cleve, from tlie commitlee nppointed by the Board last year, to procure a genera! index for Deeds and Mortgiges, made a repon of their doingwhich was accepled,adopíed nnd committef (iiscliarged. On motion, Ihft Board adjourr.ed until to morro w morning at 8 o'clock.
