Rev. J. T. Ileadly, in an article in the Christian Parlor Magazine, on the Persecuiions of the Waldenses, lells us, - " Their pastor Arnaud was afllicted with no childish squeamishness about sheddingblood. He would pray with his face to the ground (br the help of Heaven, and '.hen rise and rush to battle. - He ivould send up his loud thanksgiving te God for deliverance, and then coolly slay his prisoners; and God heard liim nndsanciioned his course, and made him the founder of his Church again in the AIps. He was a noble and gieat man." IIow the good Headley, the Christian Parlor Magizine editor, rjjoiccs in this pious pastor, and makes a hero of him ! He was a great, good man, because ho was not queamish, but shed blood with a relish, and as he prayed, with a fervour. and a holy zeal, and slaughtered his prisoners, as he shouted up a loud and savnge thanksgiving to God! IIow Mr. Ieacliey falls down, and prays his mad prayer witli hioi, and, - like Sue's bulcher - 'sees red,' and ruslies to thn battle, andshout? glory, nnd praise to God, and kills, and kills, and kills! What heartinessof commeiïilation of Arnaud ! Because he had o childish squeamishness
