Join Dr. Khaled Houamed, owner and head chef of El Harissa Market Café, for a cooking demonstration and enthralling discussion.
Together, we will learn about the unique flavors and cooking techniques of Tunisia, Khaled’s home country, and the greater North African/Maghrebi region. We will also discover the surprising parallels between the science and food worlds. Our discussion will chronicle Khaled’s journey from North Africa to the UK, and then to America, where he served as a faculty member of the University of Michigan, researching diabetes.
Khaled’s fascinating path from academia to the food industry is sure to inspire, and the delicious flavors his culinary experiments produce should not be missed!
