I am afraid of the dark

afraid of the smothering, strangling blackness

that keeps us all apart

of the unknowing and unwilling minds

melting good people’s hearts

and an end to our finite existence

before our lives can start

But the darkness cannot go

for no dark means no light

so what happens in the darkness

will show you your true might

a feeble flicker is all you need

to set the world alight

so fear the darkness, fear the night

but as day will soon arrive

dream sweetly and sleep tight
