White Bird
Beautiful white bird
Trapped in an ebony cage
You yearn to soar on open skies
A sight to see for all sore eyes
White Bird
How do you cope?
Knowing that you’ll never forget
That in an ebony care you’ll always be
Filtering the view of your magnificence for all eternity
White Bird
How are you assured?
How when you’re despised
Simply by the color of your cage
White Bird
With its back to the wall
Hoping the next person that comes through
Will see past the hood to see you
White Bird
Stretch your wings
For all creation to see
Fly away on glossy black feathers
Leaving behind your land bound tethers
White Bird
Beautiful white bird
In this poem to you
I write what I know is true
Black cage
Black skin
White bird
Pure Soul
