Rep. Dingell Receives Top Award
(Special to The News) HOUSTON, Tex. - U.S. Rep. John Dingell, D-Detroit, will receive the Distinguished Service to Conservation award from the National Wildlife Federation at its annual conference here tonight.
He was cited for the federation's highest honor in the field of conservation legislation, especially for his sponsorship of the accelerated waterfowl wetlands acquisition program, protection of marine estuaries and anti-pollution efforts in Congress.
The conference, at which Michigan United Conservation Clubs is represented, is held in conjunction with the National Wildlife Conference, at which state and federal conservation officials exchange information on numerous wildlife management subjects.
The NWF sponsors National Wildlife Week, March 17-23, and James L. Goudreau of Detroit is state chairman as well as official MUCC delegate to the NWF.
