Ruth Mary Schorling BEcomes Bride of Robert Rickard In First Methodist Church

Will Make Home New York After Feb. 1

Reception Is Held In Michigan League After Ceremony

Candlelight glowed in the chancel of the First Methodist church last night, on garlands of arborvitae and arrangements of golden-shaded flowers, for the wedding of Ruth Mary Schorling, daughter of Prof. and Mrs. Raleigh Schorling of Lenewee Dr., and Robert Nelson Rickard, son of Mrs. H. E. Rickard of Hollywood, Calif., and the late Mr. Rickard. Dr. Charles W. Brashares read the service and the wedding music was played by Franklin Mitchell, organist.

The bridal dress of Miss Schorling was made of ivory satin, in slim, unadorned lines. The point of the heartshaped neckline was accented by a slender band of seed pearl embroidery in a leaf design, matching the band that held her tulle veil of fingertip length. The brides colonial bouquet of ivory and cream roses, narcissi and bouvardia, was filled with tulle.

Aquamarine blue dresses of faille silk were worn by the three attendants, Mrs. Laurence Pearson of Hill St. as matron of honor, and Barbara Heath of Geddes Ave. and Priscilla Abbot of Washtenaw Ave., as bridesmaids. They carried colonial nosegays of ivory, yellow and color roses and chrysanthemums.

Bride's Brother Best Man

The bride's brother, Otis, was best man, and the ushers were Mr. Pearson and William Hackett of South Bend, Ind., with two junior ushers, William Brown of Granger Ave. and Ralph Beuhler of S. Division St., friends of the Corp. Clark Schorling, the bride's brother, who is at Camp Adair, Ore.

The service was followed by a reception held in the Michigan League. Mrs. Charles Henderson of Ferndale Rd. had charge of the guest book, and the hostesses were Edith Hoyle of Washington Heights, Mrs. Allen S. Whitney of Church St., Mrs. Clark Trow, Mrs. Clifford Woody and Mrs. Thomas Diamond, all of Barton Hills, Mrs. L. W. Keeler of Granger Ave., Mrs. Calvin O. Davis of Martin Pl. and Mrs. James B. Edmonson of Cambridge Rd.

For travelling, Mrs. Richard chose a wool suit of aquamarine blue, white satin blouse and black accessories. Mr. and Mrs. Rickard will be at home in New York City after Feb. 1. Mr. Rickard, who is a graduate of University of Southern California, is a student at New York Medical College in New York City and is a member of Alpha Kappa Kappa medical fraternity. His bride attended Swarthmore College and received her bachelor's and master's degrees from the University.
