It was half past mid-night;
I went out with the moon glowing.
Carefully keeping out of sight,
Walking, walking, going, going.
Not a touch of daylight;
I went out with the stars showing.
The clouds where streaked across a sky of ebony.
The rain drizzled down, down, down
As I walked unidentified, unknown, unsteadily.
I traipsed on the wet grass without a sound.
Not a touch of daylight;
I went out with the stars showing.
I then waited for daylight,
As the wind went blowing, blowing.
I stood there, waiting for the first light,
Watching the early flowers and their growing.
Not a touch of daylight;
I went out with the stars showing.
I went out with the stars showing.
