It was a rainy day. Soggy and wormy.

“Inside, today,” I remember her saying to us.

So we did just that. We stayed inside.

We built a magnificent castle with balconies and chandeliers. We fought dragons and witches. We protected her from danger and harm. We composed beautiful operas of love and loss.

We swung from the vines of a rainforest tree. We saw monkeys and tigers and everything in between. We crooned the calls of tropical birds and danced around a blazing fire.

The rain stopped. We went on with our lives.

It has never been the same. The magic never warmed our hearts again.

Maybe it was it the rain.

Maybe it was just you.
