I’m sprinting through the Detroit airport at 6:58 a.m. My flight is at 7:10 a.m. I’m going to Arizona for a week to go climbing and other adventure things. I’m staying at the Jerome Grand Hotel which is supposedly haunted, and Halloween is in two days. I’m not nervous at all. I get to the gate at 7:05, just in time. I scan my ticket and get to my seat.
“Welcome aboard everyone, today we are flying to Phoenix, Arizona. The weather there is currently 85 degrees and sunny. Sit back, relax and have a good flight. Thank you for flying with Delta Airlines.”
I love planes, I love the complimentary snacks and drinks and I love watching their shows and movies. When the snack cart came I got ginger ale and some cookies. Then I went back to watching my movie, Avengers: Age of Ultron. When the plane landed I get my bags and head to the shuttle that will take me to the rental car dealership. I get in my rental 2018 Chevrolet Traverse and drive to Jerome. When I get to the hotel I check in.
“Hello, how are you?” says the lady at the front desk.
“I’m fine, how about you?” I say.
“I’m fine, are you here to check in?”
“Yes.”
“Name please.”
“Kadeem Prince.”
“Yes, you are room 114, here is your key.”
“Thank you.”
The room key is very old and rusty. Room 114 is said to be the most haunted out of all the rooms in the Grand Hotel. I walk up the stairs and enter my room. The wallpaper is all scratched and torn and the bed sheet is dirty, the room also has poor lighting. I look at the time and it is 3:00 p.m. so I decide to go for a walk around town. The whole town has a creepy aura. I decide to go to the Haunted Hamburger for dinner. I order a bacon cheeseburger. When my food comes I go get lettuce, tomatoes, and pickles. The burger is so good. After dinner, I go back to the hotel for my first sleep. I lie in bed telling myself I’m going to be okay. I’m super scared. I finally fall asleep. When I wake up, I realize that I’m fine and nothing happened to me over the night. I think that maybe this hotel is not haunted after all. Today I am going to climb Bell Rock. I get in my rental car and drive to Bell Rock. When I get to Bell Rock I look at how big it is, then I start my climb. The climb is harder than I thought but it is not too hard. When I get to the top I stay a little while and look at the beautiful view. I can see lots of mountains and rocks and I can almost see Jerome. The view is amazing. Then I start my descent. Going down is much harder than going up. I almost slipped 7 times. When I finally get to the bottom I decide to go to Cottonwood for dinner. I decide to go to Bocce. Bocce is super fun, you get to play Bocce and they have delicious pizza. I go back to the hotel and fall asleep a lot easier than last night. I wake up, and I realize today is Halloween. I start to get nervous again so I get out of the hotel as fast as I can. Today is pretty hot out so I decide to go to Slide Rock. I get in my rental car and start the drive. When I get to Slide Rock I go straight to the water. I get in the water and move very slowly being careful not to slip. I finally sit down and start sliding. It is amazing. The water is so cold but I don’t care. When I finish sliding down I climb up to the small cliff jump. When I get up I feel a little nervous but I jump. It was really fun. I go sliding 5 more times and I jump 2 more times. Then I work up the courage to jump off the super high cliff jump. I get there and I am super scared but I tell myself it will be fun. It looks about 30 feet high. I jump off and scream,
“AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH”
When I hit the water I go down about 8 feet deep. I swim back up and feel a sense of relief. I get out of the water and walk back to the car. I decide to go to the Red Rooster cafe for dinner. It is in Old Town, Cottonwood. I get a salad there. When I finish my salad I drive back up to Jerome. On the drive up I get super nervous. When I get to the hotel everywhere is decorated with Halloween stuff. It’s only 7:00 p.m. so I decide to walk to the basketball court and shoot some hoops. At the basketball court, you have to be careful to not let the ball roll down the mountain or bounce into the old jail. I almost lost my ball 9 times but I would run and catch it. I walk back to the hotel and the restaurant there is super busy. I guess people really like it here on Halloween. I decide to go to my room. I’m pretty tired from Slide Rock and basketball so I decide to go to sleep. I lie down on my bed but as soon as I close my eyes I hear a knock on the door. I get up and open the door. I look out the door but no one is there, I look to my right no one is there and no one is to my left. I decide to try to fall asleep again. But when I lie down I feel a breeze blow across my face. I sit up and look around nothing is there. I decide to walk around the hotel. I start walking through the hall but I feel another breeze on my face. I look around and see a foot going through a wall. I get very scared but I try to remain calm. I yell to the ghost,
“Show yourself!”
The ghost comes out and it is a little kid who looks about 7 years old.
“Hello,” I say “What’s your name?”
“My name is Amir Mikel and my family and I haunt this hotel.”
“Ok,” I say.
“I’m going to make tonight miserable for you,” Amir says.
“I’d prefer it if you wouldn’t do that.”
“Sorry, but you will suffer tonight. You won’t get a minute of sleep,” he says.
Then he starts chasing me through the walls. I’m screaming and he’s laughing. I make a sharp turn and he disappears.
“I lost him,” I say.
Then he comes through the wall and goes right through me. Now I’m covered in ghost slime. It is disgusting. He looks at me and starts laughing. I’m so mad. Then I remember that I packed a hand vacuum in my bag. So I go to my room and I grab my vacuum out of my bag. Then I turn it on and start chasing the ghost, Amir. Now I am laughing and the ghost is screaming. Then he disappears and slimes me again. Now I have slime in my ears, mouth nose under my shirt, it is everywhere. I’m getting really mad now, but I don’t know what to do. I decide to go to the front desk and tell the lady what is happening. I get to the front desk but no one is there. I ring the little bell on the counter. No one answered, I ring it again but no one answered. I ring it one more time and then the ghost slimes me again. I run upstairs as fast as I can and pack my bags. Then I run out of the hotel and get in my rental car. As I’m driving I’m looking on my phone for hotels nearby. I find one in Cottonwood. I get to the hotel and as I’m walking through the parking lot Amir slimes me again. He must have followed me here. Now he is laughing like crazy. I go into the hotel covered in slime and ask the guy at the front desk if they have any available rooms. He says they do.
“How much are they?” I ask.
“$110,” He says.
I check my wallet for how much money I have. I have $150.
“Here you go,” I say as I hand him the money.
“Thank you, you will have room 100.” He says as he hands me the key card.
“Thanks,”
“Have a nice stay,”
I think the guy was weirded out by all the slime on me. I get to the room and head straight for the shower. I think that I have finally lost the ghost. After my shower, I am so tired so I go to sleep. It is 1:00 a.m. When I wake up I look for plane tickets, I find one for 1:00 p.m. I buy the ticket. I thank the guy at the front desk and walk out of the hotel. I get in my rental car and drive to Phoenix. I get to the airport and check my bags in. Then I get on the plane and fly back home.
