The Lowell Courier says two boys feil hro' the ice on Beaver Brook in Dracut. Several persons witnessed the accident and starled for the rescue ; but as the foretnost one slepped upon the ice, it cracked, and he retreated to the bank. At tliis moment Jeremiah Thomas, a lad nine years of age, with extraordinary presence of mind ran out to the centre of the stream where the ice was stronger than near the bank, as ihe first boy rose to the surface, seized and drew hiin out in safety. The second boy rose to the surface nlmosl al the same moment, and the brave liile fellovv clutched at hirn, but only caught bis cap. - Dashing the cap from bis heacl, he made a second effort, and grasped the drowning boy by the hair and drew hirn in safely upon the ice.
