AADL-GT Round 1: Registration Now Open

Our new registration is system is ready to go! Here's how it works.

First, login to aadl.org if you're not already logged in. If you don't already have an account, you should register for an account first, as an aadl.org account is required to preregister for tournaments, and to track your stats later!

Once you're logged in, just go to aadlgt. You can first set up your player info, including your full name, nickname, age group, and short 4-character version of your nickname for Super Smash Brothers.

You'll see the upcoming events listed on that page. Just click register below the ones you want to register for, and POOF, you are preregistered for that event. Know that you still have to check in when your arrive so that we know you're there.

To register for a team event, you'll see a link to create your team. Enter your team name, and choose your partner from the list of registered players. That means you won't be able to preregister your team unless both players have already registered for a single-player event. So get both teammates registered, then one of you register your team. You can create different teams for each event.

UPDATE: Clan registration is working now too. If all your Clan primaries are registered for an event, you can create your clan. Email me at axis@aadl.org your clan logo, and I'll upload it.

well it looks alright except the team events. how do i know i will be paired with my partner. the names to choose from were only"the loser"

I can't register other people without logging into their account. But I was able the make a team with Blank so no one could steal my team name.

Sravan, I'm not sure about number of races, eliminations, etc. That all depends on turnout. If someone drops out of your clan, the best thing to do would be to just roster a sub for the rest of the season... it's the roster that plays at the clan cup that gets the prize. You've got the right idea about registering vs. rostering. Registering your clan says who your primary members are, but you'll give us your roster at check-in so we know who's playing for your clan that month.

As for the music, don't worry about it. I'm working on it. We won't have other music during matches, but inbetween, after, etc.... it's coming.

Muffincat, we're televising the tournaments because it's cool. It's also only CTN, so don't get worried about overexposure. Oh, and Sravan, I'm fairly certain you can't get CTN on dish network, you have to have comcast.

lets say that there is one clan at a tournament and they have 3 ppl there but need one sub and are looking for one. another clan is there and one person from that clan is there and needs 3 subs. will u force the one player to be a sub for the clan with 3 people because he might not want to be a sub cuz he will score points for another clan. and if he doesnt make into the prize round in any single events can he partner with the 3rd member of that clan and still not be a sub because he doesnt want to score for the other clan. so this one player will be participating individually and so will the other 3 players. is this possible to do?

Thanks duck and eli, and I guess it will be fun to have the event aired, but it's not my first time on tv, The show I was filmed for should air in october on the HGTV or home and gardening channel.

Gentlemen, please. I'm glad there is such ebullience for preregistration, but let's all keep our heads, alright? =)

All errors can be easily corrected, and walk-in registration will be fairly quick if a teammate cannot log on to the website before the event. Preregistration just makes our lives a little easier when it comes to check-in time. You don't need to make accounts for other people just to get registered, it can be done at any point up to the event itself. Please only preregister for an event if you are sure that you will be attending.

I can remove any preregistrations that are incorrect. But I'm gonna wait to make fixes until tomorrow morning, when I actually go to work.

flare i can belive u that u won 300 mathces against 2 lvl 9s but it would be better to practice against 3 lvl6's or 7's because u have to get used to the idea that there are more ppl to kill.

Well I guess having clans be exactly 4 members is alright. It gets rid of the “I bought 8 people and they all formed clans of 1” point scam. But I do not like that you must have 4 members at every tournament. Which means that those that can’t get a sub on short notice you won’t be making points for their clans at all if someone drops out unexpectedly? If you have 3 players but can't get a 4th then you would just forfeit the clan portion and lose most any chance at getting in the top 4 scoring clans plus at least one tournament winner. plus since we the player are required to have parental release forms having 4 members show-up and 4 members competing could be drastically different. I just don’t like having 4 required members at each tournament people get sick family and events happen. Partial points is a big enough disadvantage you don’t need to take away all their points.

Hm, you make some good points, Duck. My idea was to get other people involved, get them exposed to the clan idea. However, there really isn't a reason to prevent any clan points from being accrued if a clan can't find 4 people to roster. Let me talk it over with Eric and see if it works with the database, but I think we could let a clan roster less than 4 players if they can't find subs. Of course, there's a benefit to finding someone new and getting them to sub in your clan, rather than only rostering 3 players... it can only increase your points. So, the incentive is still there to find subs, there just wouldn't be such a harsh penalty for not being able to find one. We'll see how it goes.

By the way, at the grands last year, we didn't have a single person who couldn't compete because they didn't have a release. That was not a big deal at all.

whats the point of having less then 4 players. there will most likely be some newcomer at one oof the tournaments who will be ur sub cuz he feels sorry for u. sure a 3 person clan doesnt really matter to me but they will get 3/4 their score if they had 4 ppl assuming everyone is equal and have basically no chance to win the clan portion of the tournament and it will hurt them in the overall standings. so eli go ahead and let duck have a 3 person clan but as long as he gets 3/4 of the score assuming each player is equal.

Sravan, it's galen. I thought troublemonkey clan was Joe, Derek, Sravan, and Galen. If that's the case, Sravan, unless Joe and Derek aren't going to be a Kart Team, you and Galen have to be a team. You can switch your partners for the team events, but if you want your team scores to count for your clan, both teammates must be rostered for that clan. Got it? A clan forms two teams.

By the way, Sravan is pr0 and Galen is c0n... that's actually quite clever, guys.

I know there is a benefit I've contacted many people but since you put the release form I haven't been able to get anyone. Odds are I'll be making several calls tomorrow. And there was at least one kid that wasn't able to get in the tournament because he didn't have a form. I know I helped the kid contact his mom but when she got there the wildcard was already in progress.

I didn't register with you Sravan I made all mine with blanks. Flare was the only person to choose.

eli i have a question about the clans. we register our PRIMARY members today and register out ROSTER on saturday correct? what if one of our PRIMARY members doesnt want to be in the clan and drops out in october or something can we choose another PRIMARY member?

Can you have a sub for the clan cup because, my brother and I will probably not be able to attend. You said earlier that the sub system was to not punish people for having previous commitments. I don't think it is fiar to the other members of my clan to not be able to compete.

BTW Sravan that's from Shakespeare's A midsummer's night dream. At least that's what my sister says.

yea ur right tp2. if u are not at the december tournament then u dont get the prize ur sub does thats the bad thing so it will be like u were a sub for the rest of the season. u can ask the sub to give u the ipod but i doubt he will give it to u. we had to read that shakespeare play last year and this year we have to read macbeth ahhhhhhhh.

Subs can play for a leading clan at the clan cup, but, as Sravan says, it's the players who play for the winning clan at the clan cup that get the prizes. I think that's as fair as it can be, TP2... your hard work can get your clan to the clan cup, and they shouldn't have a problem finding high-quality subs for a shot at a prize. And as for you, Padouk, welcome back! You don't need to worry about unregistering, there's still check-in on the day of the tournament. If you preregister but don't check-in, no harm done.

And, the problem with the release forms is not that parents are unwilling to sign them, Sravan, it's that they might not know that they have to. However, if we are showing you on TV, we can't do so without the permission of your parents, even if it is only CTN. And I don't know what release form you were reading, Sravan, but it does not hold you liable for anything. It simply says that I can use your image to promote library events and you agree that I don't have to pay you.

i havent commentated before so i wouldnt know but in the different games how would we know which player is which. in melee they have their short nickname but black's short name is noah i think. in mario kart there is no thing above the player telling who they are. we can only look at the different stations trying to compare characters. i bet eli is going to laugh at me and say thats its a lot easier then that and everything we need will be like where all the high tech equipment is.

Muffincat that was beautiful, by far the longest and most enjoyable post I've ever read. What the read (reading) and read (I read [Past tense] the book) are spelled the same way, that’s like Mouse and Death inhabiting the same body and switching between personalities. You know a cauldron is a unit of measure but it's used to determine dry volume. And if I was to bring a candy of candy to the tournament it would be 500-800 pounds of candy. Why can't we use the metric system like normal people?

I know I miss spelled things, the major problem I have is slitting up words that are one word, but thanks and eli that was awsome and so true of inyu yahsa, and I fired my butler because he was trying to control me by means of hamtaro, and new person welcome!

wenbo screwed up the blog. eli use ur admin powers. some final words before the tournament. remember that its just a GAME and dont get to worked up about it. in the september tournament last year it was the final round of the prize round and there were 2 players left-leinad and joe. joe won but leinad argued that joe's partner derek was disturbing his concentration. joe agreed to a re match and killed leinad with 2 balloons to spare. so everyone be sprots man ike and be like joe. and good luck guys u'll need it jk.

in one flipping week you guys left over 300 new posts. chmon. too many [pppl at this tournament....take too long.

What happened to the limited space rule. 80 people is to many we should limit to 60-64 max somewhere around there. while i was playing in the tournament the pizza came and when i got around to getting pizza there wasn't any after only a few mins. We didn't have the time to do anything. so either lowwer the max people or make it so that SSBM and MKDD are differnt dates. That took to long and was to crazy. The noise makers so shut the **** up. If they are that loud again I will punch one out.

Eli is it to late to change the scedual, because if you could make mario kart and mele on different days (ex mele on saterday mario kart on sunday morning and prize round sunday afternoon) we could have more time to do each.

Anyway, I think next tournament we should have Single Mario Kart then Team Melee then Single Melee then Team Mario Kart. I say that 'cause at today's tournament we didn't have enough time and one of the events had to be knocked out. There was a unanimous vote for Team Mario Kart, 'cept Duck, Muffincat and their friends.

i didnt get to fill out a form the rate the event but i'd give it a 3. its not their fault that the event is so popular but we should do the idea of first come first serve. how about we mak pre registration an advantage meaning that if we pre register then we are assured to be in the tournament. we should actually limit the number of players to around 48-50. it would be a good idea to have mkdd and melee on seprate days. did this tournament count for clan points and if it did then where do we say who we rostered at this tournament. the all melee tournament in october does that include team melee?

It did count for clan points but it will be a bit before we log them. But the points won't be even for each event. MKDD single player should count for the most using the system Eli posted. Since it did get played the most and was scored at a higher rate. We royally slanted the scoring.

This is a comment I'll prolly re-post in the tournament results thread, but I'd just like to point out there is a much greater element of random chance in this year's tournaments. I realize that it wants to be kept "dicey," and last year there was about the right balance of luck. Last year there were consistent winners, and that is always a sign that there is a predominent element of skill in the tournament. This year it's been all but completely random, and it's been pushed over the edge into an almost "crapshoot" situation with the introduction of the melee events (which cuts down on time per event) and, the biggest contributing factor, a massive influx of new players (which cuts down on the time each person has to play, and thus demonstrate consistency (ie skill)). The new sur-prize round isnt any more luck based then the battle prize rounds (and maybe less luck based) so that can't be considered accountable for the jump in randomness. Really, the people you'd expect to win are rarely actually getting that far, and I dont think we've seen any of last years "favorites" win anything yet, then again a lot of those people were not present this event, so things might be different on a non band camp weekend.

That said, although it might have become too random for my tastes, it is possible that the other participants and the organizers (thanks for treating us all to an extremely fun six hours btw) might not feel the same way. I think everyone was blindsided by the 90 people who showed up and it's possible that simply no one was prepared for THAT many, but I think we can only expect more in the coming months (heck, this WAS during band camp), so if the consensus is that it's just getting too hectic with so many people there's a couple things that can be done. Splitting it over two days (or finding other ways to add extra time) as was suggested above would work, if five hours is all we can get and people are only going to get two (or less) guaranteed shots at any given event, then things to consider are the removal of items, increasing the number of people you pull in to the prize round (8 from each event?), or making the prize round simply mk/ssb:m based. Or ideally (for me) some combination of those and other luck reducing changes. Items really made things better last year, but if you ask me going head to head with upwards of 100 people is all the diceyness I need.

As jlgelinas mentioned this was Band Camp week. I know of 7 people that would have come had it not been. But it was also summer vacation so many people had nothing to do. So we don't know if the next event will be as busy. If we have more people quilify for the surprize round We risk having much higher numbers of people being in the final dec. tournament.

Just wondering did the preseason quilify people for the december finals? I'm not sure it's been a while.

Yes, i agree with jlgelinas and sravan we should really try and make sure that the 90 people incident doesn't happen again with the preregistration or a limit of how many people can play. If this Eli decides to do preregistration only for September I think we should still allow some people to register on the spot with a limit of players of course since not everyone is signed onto this blog and wouldn't know. Eli could hand out flyers but i doubt everyone who wants to go to these torunaments will pick up one.

Also since I won the Grand Prize shouldn't the Trouble MOnkeys be automatically in the finals in December? And I like the suprise round, I hope we keep them for the rest of the season.

I know that i'm new, but I was invited by two of the better known players, miniblin and duck, so I don't want to be grouped with the newer people that were at the event, and well I have to say that if some of the middle school students are going to act the way they did at the tourtament then I will whole heartedly join duck in getting rid of them. It was funny stealing their stuff! The clan that caused all that noise at event really should be either docked points or have a serious punishment!
All that aside I hope everones belts aren't to tight from lack of pizza.

Yeah, I totally agree with Muffincat. Those idiots like John Durski shouldn't do that. Lot's of us didn't approve/liked all that. I didn't have a partner, because mine was at band camp, so I asked duck to find me one, and he found his friend who was new to all of this, I am more then willing to partner with anyone, and other then the noise makers the other middle shcool kids were great and most have a really kind way of looking out for other players.
PS I only used one cup, and keeped track of it, and also some people don't like new people, so I didn't wnat anyone to harbor ill feelings towards me.

Galen I think you guys winning the biggest prize shouldn't automatically put you in the clan cup. But If I'm not mistaken you guys accumulated the most points of any clan maybe the turtle clan beat you but I'm pretty sure you scored the highest so you would be in.

lmao flare request battles. i was at rods's house so i didnt post much but i agree with muffincat and galen that clan should stop making that noise. when me and galen beat their team i was being an extremely sore winner and rubbing it in. thanks to galens prize round victory and my qualification in 3 events with lots of inhearet bonuses i think the trouble monkeys won this one. let me get this straight in this tournament the trouble monkey clan rostered only rod,me,galen, and joe. also whenever we count this but for the referals in our clan, i refered rod, ugo and his clan so thats 905, galen refered david, and joe refered his friend whose name i forgot but it started with a D. so thats 905+202 which is 1107 +galen's 1000 which comes to a total of 2107 plus all the races and matches. i was suprised that turtle person2 when he came 3nd to me he won his other elimination against other players putting him in the top 4 with me and 2 others. i got 4th in 1 event, 1st in 2 others because eli said he wasent going to try and bother to see who got 1st and 2nd cuz it would waste more time even though he did that for mario kart. so thats 900 off of events which gives 3007 yay. now we need to count each individual race but that will take too long. galen i need to talk to u about the primary members in our clan. anyway back to suggestions where is the mario party and pikman2 eli?? and for the december tournament can we please please please not have a suprise game and have it only comprimised of mixed ssbm and mkdd events ans well as the clan cup. duck did u make into today's prize round? in the team mario kart event we should have the top 2 move on and then we will ahve 8 ppl race for the top 4 like it should be. but since the transition of games inst going to well(mkdd to melee) i think we should have each game on a different day. the only problem with that is axis has to rescedule and where will the suprise round be? that was really sad when we had to restart LAN TWICE IN A ROW because people would not follow directions. muffincat dont worry about the noise makers they got their *** kicked. 64 is an extremly large number so i was thinking of 48-54 ppl as i said earlier. maybe we should change the rules of melee to 2 minute time because it seems stock involves too much panseeness as flare discribed earlier. 2 stages should be banned one is hyrule temple because people can avoid anybody even noobs and the 2nd is yoshi story the N64 version beacause well rod knows lol. since tp2 didnt get into the top 4 of the prize round i think the trouble monkeys got this one in the bag. wonder how long this post is. i dont use paragraphs even though it makes it a lot neater

Sravan, i don't like your idea for team mario kart. It's <strong>Team</strong> Mario Kart. If we did that there would be 1 team game and 1 single game. Also, yes I agree with Sravan. At the finals lets not have a suprize round. The clans didn't work that hard to just get beaten at some random game they don't know about.

I like the idea of having the tournament on both days of the weekend. Just nothing Sunday morning. Maybe we could do melee on saturday and kart on sunday+surprize round.

Eli you have to something about the number of people coming. I don't know if there are any bigger rooms we could go to, but that room was hot, it didn't smell good. It was also very crowded. I wouldn't be surprised if we broke the fire limit for number of people in that room. Maybe we could have a waiting room for people who aren't playing. Also could there be fans in that room?

my idea for team mario kart is good. we had 4 races and if the top 2 ppl in each race moved on that would be good. then we will have 8 ppl to battle for the top 4. tp2 we are getting into the winter but i still like ur idea about keeping every1 else outside so we can avoid that thing what happened in september and those ******* noise makers. tp2 i should give u props for being one of the best melee players there u came in 2nd to me but won ur match against other ppl who came first. i only beat flare by dumb luck as he said there was a bomb in the capsule and he smashed it. galen and joe do u think we should boot derek for flare. he is extremely good at melee and he got 1st and 2nd in his races yesterday but didnt qualify for the prize round until team melee. he would have for single melee but as i said above he didnt. and anytime joe can not come to a tournament we can use rod as our sub. does anyone know who got 2nd,3rd, and 4th in the prize round even though eli will make a post about it today.

i can't believe that more then 7/8 of the players used swordsman and then 1/16 used sheik. they arent that good u know. people think they cant hit someone and make them go flying off the edge with link's up-B but all the have to do is sheild then attack or attack from above. the young links tried to use down B but they don't know about L-canceling so i dodge them then smash them. also another way to attack link is to wave dash which is a complicated air dodge which the game transforms into a horizontal movement where u can use any attack. we will see more of these techniques when we play the older kids in october. about marth and roy if someone misses with roy's counter then the other player has a long time to attack them. marth on the other hand u have to out wit him by not using the same attacks everytime but u could wave dash into him then attack him. marth and roy also have no projectiles so they rely on items. like i said about new ppl commentating they dont know **** about the games and they thought they were the best until they faced our top players(when i say our i mean us vetrans). the commentators throughout the season should be me,duck,muffincat,galen,black shark,tom,leinad, and tp2 but i didnt see him commentate so i dont know. thats 7 ppl excluding tp2 so we need 1 more person so we can have 2 ppl for every tournament. does anyone know who the guy named"the post" using?

Yeah I was in the prize round, but I keep killing my self with bombs, that game cheats!
And I would really enjoy being an anouncer, but with all the people last time you couldn't hear any of the commentating, and the commentators should be louder that includeds me, and I asked someone in charge at the event,eli or someone to stop the noise makers, but they said that they allowed them to make the noise in the first place.
and when are we going to play pikmin 2 thats like the only game other then ribbitking that I'm really good at.

Sravan is right, galen, switching games twice would not help our time problem. Thanks for all your comments, this is really helpful as I'm deciding how best to handle our success. I'm going to make a detailed post tomorrow, but for now, here are my thoughts. These are not binding and I reserve the right to change my mind about any of them.

1. Limit registration to X preregistrations and X walkins. While I think we were pushing it yesterday, with some of these other changes, I think we could still have up to 100 competitors total and make it work. Fire code for that room is 144, but I don't want to get close to that.

2. Either eliminate single-player Kart or make it a single elimination event. That was by far the most time-consuming event yesterday, since only 8 people can play at a time. Just the qualifications took almost 2 hours. That's why everything else was so rushed. Alternately, we could go split screen and have 2 4-station networks, 2 players per screen.

3. Set up the food, registration desk, tables, and a Big TV outside the room in the little lobby, to offer overflow seating, a waiting room, at reduce congestion near the entrance to the room. I think we would set up the registration desk at the bottom of the stairs for better flow.

4. I will assign commentary duties for each event. I want to create some 2-person commentary teams, and I'll assign which teams commentate on which part of the events. We cannot have that kind of mess in the booth next time, and I want high-quality commentating. Tom and Leinad have set the standard.

5. Diego won't like this, but I'm toying the possibility of moving the video production and commentary booth out of the room and into a smaller room nearby, to insulate it a bit from the mayhem. We would have some little monitors so that the commentators can watch all 8 screens at once. I'm sure this isn't practical, but I'm throwing it out there.

6. There is no 6.

So, what do you think? Stay tuned for a post late tomorrow with full results, clan details, etc. Oh, by the way, I did give my permission to Clan Noise Machine to do their thing. It was definitely annoying, but entirely appropriate, and you may notice that they got tired of it after a while.

Eli these ideas/suggestions rock, except the one about 100 people, I don't know if I could come if it was ever that crowded, either that or I will need a bottle of aspririn, 500mg,.
It would be cool for the commentators to be able to see what is going on with the races with their own monitors, because everyone was standing in the way of the projection screen and they had a hard time seeing what was going on sometimes. and the thing about cutting back on mario cart, I like having like 4 rounds to determine your score, the two round thing was hard, and the only one life bit during the team melee was so sad for me and my partner who don't own the game, I mean we don't suck that bad, but it was hard to hold on with only one life against people who have been playing these games longer then I've even heard of them. I liked the small tourtaments it's feels a little more fun, like everone knows each other.

I agree with your suggestions except 6. Don't eliminate single player kart. Instead make the top 4 move on from each race. What I noticed at the last tournament was that a large number of people had either never played the games before didn't own the games or didn't even own a cube.

Also were Anti-Snowman and I (melee masters) first in team melee. We won every game by a landslide. We played 2 games where one of us didn't take damage. I find it hard to believe that we placed 1st because, we didn't face anyone good.

Also, I also agree with Eli that the noise makers can keep being annoising (I know that's not a word). If they want to fill the room with enemies that is okay with me. I know that every time I saw one eliminated it made me happy knowing that they would stop beating their heads with a drumstick. (Although maybe we should encourage that more.)

I would just like to say that the surprise round was quite a surprise. I had already created mental lists of what games it could be. Bomberman was not on it. However, it was a pretty good game. It only gave a slight advantage to those who had played it before. Pikmin 2 would be a bad choice. Too expensive. Too slow. (only 2 people at once). Too much of an advantage to those who own it. Not easy to pick up either. (Which is probably part of the last part.)

By the way Galen is it true you own a bomberman game for the gamecube. If so that doesn't change who gets the money it only changes how I view your skill. Which must be good enough to get to the prize round.

I know that the people making noise stopped after a while, but a while is like three hours!
that's like nials on a chalk board for three hours to me, and I really have been working hard to improve my skill, but I don't know if I could make it to far if it was more cute troat and turtleperson is right, don't get rid of single player mario cart.
but pikmin does not take to long nor is it hard to understand, it's as easy to understand as Bomberman,.

Eli is it possibile to extend the tournaments a few extra hours so they're less rushed instead of noon to 5 could it be 11 to 7? That would give us plenty of time so we wouldnt have to have single or doubble elimination. P.S. please don't cut mkdd single that is my favorite event

3 things 1.I think we should all shut up about the prize round because if we keep talking about the games eli wont use them K.

I suggest: Hearts, Tomatoes, Stars, Hammers, Cloaking Devices, Metal Boxes, Red Koopa Shells, Bob-ombs, Pokèballs, Party Balls, and Mushrooms are turned off. posted by duck.

red koopa shells are easy to deal with just use ur reflector with fox and u can do that with a super scope too thats what i did to rod once. poke balls can stay on cuz 1/2 the time u get a bad one and 1/2 of the ones left u can dodge. lugia in my opinion is the only cheap one other then blastoise they over powered him in this game too much. bomb-omb should stya on cuz one of the fundamentals in the game which basically no one at the tournaments knows is air dodge and catching items. u have to catch a bomb-omb to beat the whole game. cloaking devices in this case their name is on their head so its the no damage factor u can still kill them cheaply like link's up-B or if they have high damage already like over 100 then smash attack them. when u are marth and u get them off the edge they are basically dead. im suprised u dont want party balls u like randomness. most of the time its either food which isnt on ur list or bomb-ombs. mushroms so way, giant isnt much of an advantage its harder to hit people but its also some times easier to hit them cuz u are huge. poisin mushroom u can get it and u are forced to use one of the melee skills which is dodgeing other players. hammers should be turned on cuz u and a lot of other ppl use marth so u can counter the hammer. also people are tend to be afraid of some one with a hammer but its better to fight them from the air. even though it will do 30 dmg it will stun them and remember if u hit them off the edge they can't come back. metel boxes can be an advantage and a disadvantage. if u have high damage u should get it so it will be harder for u to fall. but if u have low damage and u accidently die then u will hate urself for the rest of the tournament. stars should be kept on cuz its not that hard to dodge him for only about like 20 seconds. finally tomatos and hearts i think the tomato can stay cuz its only 50 damage but im not so sure about the heart. 100 damage is a lot and is like a big break for u especially in a 2 stock match. flare i'm just curious but do u use the c-stick cuz it seems like u dont. do u guys want me to post the exact speeds of all the characters when they are normmal sized?

Yes a full charge is dangerous, but it takes time and can't be held on to so it isn't the most versital item plus the hammer is always hitting it isn't a one shot. The hammer also limits your movement (one jump Very band on I.M.) and some of the time leaves you defenseless (headless). I oppose doing Bonus because there is switzerland which is 12,000 points for not attacking or being hit plus doing alot of other things like edge Hog and taunting gives a huge ammount for doing nothing but dodging.

yeah i guess youre right exept that running away actully increases youre chance of getting hit cause an enemy struggilingto get back on isnt very dangerous exept for luigis afterburnerand if you cant beat the person in a fight then you probelywont get away from them either and the super scope gives you three super shots and yeah they take time but as sravan said the hammer has its weak points and i dont use the c-stick but i do sometimes use x and y to jump taunting gives you like 500 points thats not that much even if you do get a whole loot of edge hog points you still get more for offense artist ko artist first place and ect...

MKDD first otherwise the LAN has to be connected mid-tournament and you saw how that went.

There still is the fact that many bonuses given are for unimportant things. Getting mew gives you 10k. It is completely possible to own someone and lose the match. KO's give you 500 per KO's so a good match might give you 3000 from regular KO's. Being a Dedicated Specialist gives you that for only doing one type of B move in a match.

No the unimportant stuff has a huge impact. For some reason doing weird unimportant things can make you win.

My gosh the dino dino jungle. I was in the lead of the last lap and fell in to the pit (someone bumped me in) and normally I could last and pull a top 4, But the pit went on for 4 or 5 seconds before I stoped. It droped me to 6th place. The pact was fairly spread out and 5th had a hude lead on me.

thats a good point duck. we never use that space. i saw joe listening to his ipod there though. i got so lucky in dino dino jungle. we were before the bridge part where there are 3 routes to take adn i got 3 mushrooms so i used them and i was in 5th, i could see 4th in my sights and then after the tunnel i got 3 more mushrooms i used one then used another while i mini turboed and hit 4th place then used another to keep him away from me and i finished with 4th place, i was in the bowser car or else i would have done better. duck what was ur character combination?

Wow, and turtleperson2. I do not have Bomberman Generations for the Gamecube, i don't even have a Gamecube. I played a previous version of bomberman on the PS1 that was similar to the one at the tournament.

we cant put ppl behind the screen because they want to watch the game. that also adds on to eli and muffincat's i dea(i think) that we should have people outside in that open area behind the doors to get in to the main room. they want to watch the game too but it will make them more tense and have a nervous breakdown if we dont let them. maybe the ppl waiting outside can listen to the commentators so its like listening to the radio when there is a huge baseball game is going on and the ppl at the radio station are commentating. if anyone has seen the movie "Searching for Bobby Fischer" in the scene where he is at his like first tournament playing other kids u see the tournament orginizer telling the parents that they can only watch the game and cannot kabitz or talk to their son/daughter. later u see these 2 parents fighting over the table where one is on each side and then they take up all the parents into the end of this hall and lock up by pulling a chain door to blick their way out( if u have ever been to a school after hours like at 6 they have these preventing theves). then all the children inside the room start clapping lol. later on u see this chain of kids like one is watching the game then goes and tells the next person in another part of the building the move that he did then that kid goes downstairs to the basement to tell the parents lol. this is a perfect example of what happened at the tournament (except for the fighting part) but mainly other people watching being a distraction and especially pressuring the player. we shouldnt lock up the players who arent playing but just keep them in that seprate room and let them listen to the commentators who will be somewhere else if they arent in the main room like eli said. seaching for bobby fischer features john waitzken who in 1993 was america's highest rated player under 18. well anyway to summarize that up we have the ppl who are playing, eli and his crew, commentators(maybe depending on eli), and other players who have permisssion from their friend to watch but can not disturb any other players and must stay at their friends station but this last rule may not work cuz eli likes to keep us waiting till the last minute so eli might not go with that rule. all others should stay out. if we have the commentators outside the main room we should do the radio example or the bobby fischer one where the most important information gets to the last. well anyway what do u think eli and everyone else?

OK, first, let's all chill about the Noise Machine. All this rage is playing right into their hands, frankly. If you make a big deal about it, it will just encourage them. I like the energy they brought to the tournament, and it seems to be an effective tactic. At any rate, they got under many skins. I am not telling them to stop, although I do think that the cymbal may have been a bit much. We'll see how it goes.

Anyway, I do think we can make better use of the entire basement, including the space behind the screen. I've got plenty of ideas, but I will not be limiting access to the room to current players, that would just be a mess, and impossible to enforce. However, with more space available to sit, the food served outside the room, and a Big TV to watch, people will spread out. Also, the Noise Machine will help us there. =) I think we can make it work. We may very well not have as many people next month, with school, football, etc, but we also haven't started advertising yet. We will not expand this event to a multi-day thing; we already have events scheduled on sunday for younger players, and I don't want to limit success to people who can block out an entire weekend to this. We can't really start earlier, as the start time has already been promoted in printed flyers, and we can go a little over, but the library closes at 6 on saturdays. However, we can open the doors earlier, and we'll work on that.

As for banned items and stages, I still haven't heard a compelling reason to do it. However, I am going to Penny Arcade Expo next weekend to observe a truly HUGE tournament, and they ban some items and stages... their banned item list looking an awful lot like duck's. <a href="http://www.penny-arcade.com/pax/events.php#console&quot; title="Disclaimer: Penny Arcade the comic is unbelievably geeky and foulmouthed. So, sounds like split-screen would be a good solution for MKDD, it's actually something I thought about way back last year. What about 4 players per station? Are the TVs too small for that, or is it an option? One thing about the PAX tournament is that people play an entire cup, and the top two places advance. That might be a way to get more races in less time, since there won't be people moving around, and we could only collect scores at the end of the cup. If we could go to 4 players per station, we could have 32 people racing at a time, and if we did a full 4-race cup for each set, 64 people could get 4 races in less than half an hour. The only catch with this is that there's more standing around, you won't race as often.

Eli, I don't think we should have 4 at each station, the tvs r way 2 small and it would be very hard 2 concentrate with 3 other players being right by u, u have 2 have your space, I'll go with the idea of 2 at each station for the most, even though it would save a lot of time 2 do 4 at each station. Yeah, u just keep thinking of ways 2 make this tournament faster. Im going 2 bed. Good luck in Washington. R U actually going 2 play in this tournament. One thing I saw was about the banned stages, u should keep all the stages in melee. I dont always want 2 have 2 fight on small stages. Don't take away Hyrule atleast.

noah take away hyrule. here is my logic. hyrule is the biggest stage in the game and especially in 1v1 the person can aviod the other person under all costs by running away and forcing sudden death. hyrule is also cheap in sudden death if nobody knows but to the very left of the course there is a little arc like that u can go under(this is on the top) and if u stay there the bombs wont hit u but ur opponent will eventually die from the bombs. yoshi N64 is cheap because of panseeing on the clouds. one exapmple out of hundreds is fox going to the last cloud jumping up and down using his gun shooting the other players on the stage. as long as u keep jumping u wont die. flat zone isnt cheap just pokemon there are cheap. if something hits a tool and that tool hits u its an instant 1-hit KO. i was playing angainst a level 9 and he got a poke ball whihch was starmie. one of starmie's things hit a tool then the tool hit he and i went saring up till i got KOed. big blue is fine its just that its moving which ticks other ppl off but pokemon there is usually not an issue cuz they usually get left behind cuz of incredible speeds. eli they are doing 1v1 too. maybe we should follow their example and have about 64 players at one tournament and then we do 1v1 single elimination while u guys keep track of the bracket. but we will have to play 4 matches for the first round, then 2 matfches for the 2nd round, then 1 match with 16 ppl left then we will have 8 ppl left then we will have 4 then we will have our top 4 ranked players and that is 9 matches if we can do that? hammer shouldnt be banned but tomatos and hearts should be banned. hammer is easy to avoid unless u are on a flat stage like final destination. all u have to do is lure him to the edge the jump up and meteor smash him with dr.mario or someone else like link. u can also smash him on the ground. sure it will do 30 damage to u but it will make him stunned and u can attack him again. i dont know y food is on that list but food isnt much. its average 6 damage heal from food and when it comes out of a party ball a lot of ppl get it. cloaking devise maybe cuz of the no damage factor but if we do ban cloaking devise then we should ban star. star is very cheap to the person who gets it. only in a 1v1 it isnt much but in 4 player free for all he has 3 targets to choose. i dont see whats so bad about a red koopa shell u can reflect it with ur reflector with fox and if u arent fox then thats too bad for u. metal box we should keep cuz the other player can still do damage and if they ever hit them off it is very hard to get back up. we should keep the items on low as the PAX thing said cuz ppl tend to get big breaks if u know what i mean. mushrooms are not that bad, even if u get a big its everyone dodges the big player then if u get small its everyone goes after the small player. termina should be banned because of that cheap throw where the bounce off the bottom of the top floor then die. iccle mountain also should be banned cuz of people tending to avoid danger AKA hiding. in sudden death if u stay under the rock no 1 can get u except link with his boomarang. im starting to think that we should also ban flat zone cuz of another cheap throw cuz the stage is so small. u pick someone up u throw then back then u turn around and smash attack(hey that ryhmes). brinstar depths should stay on its just that ppl tend to have bad luck. i like this split screen cup idea where if we have 64 players then we will only have to have 8 races total before the elimination rounds. 4 ppl on one tv is stressing it i know it would be saving time but its not convienent for the players. have u ever tried 4 player split screen LAN mode on both tv's it is soooooooooo laggy. split screen isnt that bad though. well in conclusion we should ban heart,tomato,star,cloaking devise(maybe),and mushrooms(all of them). for stages we should ban hyrule, yoshi N64, icicle mountain, flat zone, and termina. for the split screen if we have 64 playersit would be 4 races for each 8 so thats 32 races but we can run them simltainiously so thats 16. that still doesnt work out right. if we have less players like 48 then it would be 12 races total. i like this idea but eli it is ur tournament and u get to do whatever u want. please next time can we do 1v1...

i never said anything about bonus today. galen that would work but they would have to connect LAN inbetween which might take 15-45minutes unless they connect it before hand. switching the games wont do much it will take the same time as having them in the original order but if we do something wrong like screw up and get ppl into the wrong stations we will have to do single elimination for mario kart. eli i told u that john durski didnt make the sudden death in single melee but u said ice didnt. i even heard ugo asking him howcome he didnt make it and he said i'll make in melee so he has GUILTY WRITTEN ALL OVER HIS FACE FOR CHEATING. he got ice into the finals and guess what ice won the last race and i bet he wouldnt have qualified if it wasent for john durski but its not ice's fault. did anyone notice that we had dino dino jungle a lot yesterday. it was in the final elimination for single mario kart where there is 8 ppl left and it was in the team mario kart that me and galen raced in. flare most of ur bad luck comes against me or galen so when u are with us and not against us there will be no bad luck so i want u.

links up b is easy to break eihter wait till its over and attack while hes recovering or hit him from above ect... and the parasail is easy if youre not already occupied but i was busy fighting ugo also i think we should take out the super scope

The ones I listed are a little on the unbalenced side. The super scope isn't cheap just a little irritating.

I'm really surprised so many people were so bad a SSBM. I played one single player match on Pokèfloats in which there was a pikachu, Mewtwo, and Link and both pokèmon were ousted in under a half-min before the floating green thing came. The pichacu allowed me to smash him with a home-run Bat when at 0%.

I play defensive but doing things like peach parasol or links up-B is pathetic. Good people can break those moves easy, especially if you have projectiles/Items. I don't like the Idea of taking away all Items. I believe in the fact that you’re not the best unless you can handle any situation. But in order in make it more skill based I suggest: Hearts, Tomatoes, Stars, Hammers, Cloaking Devices, Metal Boxes, Red Koopa Shells, Bob-ombs, Pokèballs, Party Balls, and Mushrooms are turned off.

I want to have MKDD single player the most, it is my favorite event. Putting split screen on is a great Idea. It would allow it to take half the time. Plus what about the little kids. You can't just have them play MKDD and then not let them play it when they make it to 6th grade.

We really can't drop an event it would slant the clan points unfairly for this past event.

Oh and the noise makers should lose the symbol. I can handle the other stuff but the symbol was the worst.

Eli, do something about those ****in noise makers, everybody hates them, and y does muffincat assume that we all have been making noise on the noise makers. Muffincat, if u want 2 get mad at someone, get mad at monkeyman's brother, the Durski's, and whoever else is in that annoying clan. Just threaten them, saying that u will use ur muffincatwoman powers and u will scratch them with ur claws and give them bad tasting muffins or somethin' like that. I will be at the next tournament, and I will be in the surprise round, I guransheed it. Eli, y can't u make a little open play this week or somthin', I don't want 2 end the aadl-gt summer losing in the tournament, I want more tournament playing.

Eli is there any time limit for the tournaments? Last time it went 1 hour over and was still rushed could you make it 11-7 or 11-8 instead that would give us pleanty of time.

monkeyman the library closes at 6. i treid to come back in for some water but i couldnt. we could do 11-5 or 11-6. does anyone know why we use an hour instead of a hour like in grammer? like when a word starts with a vowel it uses 'an' but a consanant uses 'a'

Why not just do the lan thing while everone is getting pizza, like hold back anyone from getting any and during the switch allow people to get pizza, this way no one will be in a match while others are getting pizza, and since the system will be down then more focus can be put on giving out food in an orderly manner. I personal don't care for pizza that much, but I don't want my friends going without like last time, and black shark that was so funny you made me sound like cat women, and if I was her then I would have enough money from stealing art work that I could make my own private tourtament, but untill that happens I will keep on coming to the ones at the library, and I know that up B is a sort of easy thing to do with link, but you know I don't own the game so I just try my best at the tourtaments, so if I'm a flower or whatever you call people who can't fight that well, then so be it, I go there just to have fun, try my best ,and be with my friends./And so I openly admit that I add to the problem of the mass numbers of meduim skilled people. but I do own a cbe!
Also why not put drinks and chips behind the big screen and put pizza in the usual food spot so it bracks it up a little, because some people want to have chips with their pizza, but it has to be moved aside when the pizza comes.

and if the noise makers are going to be allow then I say let them make noise in the hallway, that way they aren't right behind players who are trying to focus, I know that they cornered me during a match in melee, standing right behind me making noise and there was nothing I could do.
feeling defeated by people with dollar store noise makers show me that in world is indeed a sad place now a days, I can understand being excited, that's pretty much my personality, but their noise wasn't about fun it was about spite.

flare pansy is a type of flower. i like muffincat's idea of puuting the food in different places so its less cramped. pansys are generally people who try to win cheap and u are not one fo them muffincat. they may use the same move over again like link or the try to hide or do a kamakazee like john durski who is indeed part of the noise making clan. nobody who posts on the blog is a pansee. if any of us are in the same match and when i say us i mean the ppl on the blog, and we are facing a noise maker in melee we should team up on him to show him how we non cheap players do it!

Do you guys read We can't start the tournament before noon, But we may be able to start registration before noon. Flat zone isn't broken just a little small. Food isn't that effective without partyballs(which are banned) spilling them out.

2 person Split-screen should help but we should not throw out 4 person split screen if need be. The TVs aren't to small you can manage.

I should Tell Tom to get "It's a Small World" on his MP3 player So we can blast it on one of the TV.s. That should turn the noise makers into quiet little kids.

duck have u ever tried 4 player split screen LAN. i did it at the madden tournament and it was sooooooooooooooooooooooo laggy. duck dont u read????? eli u said u will make a big post about improving the rest of the season, clans, referals, and banned stages and items. duck have u been to disney world in the magic kingdom there is a it's a small world ride where they say it over and over again in 37 different languages omg that is so annoying.

I read Your comment before and knew it was laggy but if we have 90 people it might be nessecary to take the hit so we don't have to cancel an event. I know It's a small world is annoying thats what I counting on. Beating the Noise Makers at there own game may be a way to get them to be quiet.

that is true duck. or we can beat them another way like in the games and we did. noah u are gonna regret saying that during the school year when u are so busy. eli did say this was only 5% of his job and there are other events happening at the library its not like the PAX thing but that happens once a year.

Eli could we start registration at 11:30 and end the tournament at 6:00 because last time the tournament syarted at about 12:30 because registration took so long.

the day of the second event? we could do MKDD on the first every other week and SSBM and prize round on the second.

We will not expand this event to a multi-day thing; we already have events scheduled on sunday for younger players, and I don't want to limit success to people who can block out an entire weekend to this. We can't really start earlier, as the start time has already been promoted in printed flyers, and we can go a little over, but the library closes at 6 on saturdays. However, we can open the doors earlier, and we'll work on that.

I went to that thing in disney world the ride,when I was five, and I have strange memories, do not use that song, pick another one please, I can't handle that song at all!
And I have an mp3 player, so just tell me the song, and I can put ti on and when do the band camp people come back I miss miniblin, and the spilt screen thing sounds good, but maybe not as many people will be there like before, but if we're going to beat the noise makers we have got to find ower on thing, maybe steer away from using music, it will be like were copying them, and though part of me is cat, I don't want to be a copy cat/and or muffin.

I just talked to miniblin (on the phone) and he is not happy about the changes, mainly the ones about only having two races and two battles in single player mario cart and melee.
