Office Supply Company Owner O. Boyd Johannes Dies At 64

0. Boyd Johannes, an owner of the Mayer-Schairer Co. office supply firm, died Friday at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital after a brief illness. He was 64.
Mr. Johannes and Robert Ely purchased the business, at 112 S. Main St., in 1955. Mr. Johannes had served there as president and general manager until his recent illness. Before buying MayerSchaier, he also was was employed by Ball & Thrasher Co. and Thrasher & Co.
Mr. Johannes was involved in the Boy Scouts, the Ann Arbor Exchange Club, the Ann Arbor Chamber of Commerce, the Ann Arbor Volunteer Fire Department, the Elks Club and the American Legion. He enjoyed trailering and fishing during his free time.
Mr. Johannes, born in Nebraska on Oct. 18, 1917, is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Ann Davern Johannes; four children; their spouses; five grandchildren; two sisters; and his mother, Edith Boyd Johannes of Omaha, Neb.
The family will receive friends at the Muehlig Funeral Chapel from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday. Funeral services will be held Monday at 10 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Ann Arbor.
