Prof. R. B. Hall Given New Post Regents Name Him Social Sciences Chairman
Prof. Robert B. Hall of the University geography department was named today by the Board of Regents as chairman of the division of social sciences for the next three years, succeeding Dr. Carl E. Guthe, director of the University Museums.
The regents also confirmed the appointment of Roscoe Q. Bonisteel, Ann Arbor attorney, to the board of directors of the University Musical Society. He will complete the unexpired term of the late Levi D. Wines, ending in 1941.
In order that she might accept a visiting lectureship at the University of Aberdeen in Scotland, Prof. Elizabeth C. Crosby, professor of anatomy, was granted a year's leave of absence starting next June 15.
Sabbatical leaves for the second semester of the current academic year were granted to 12 faculty members. Included in this group are Prof. William G. Smeaton, chemistry; Prof. Clarence D. Thorpe and Prof. Morris P. Tilley, English; Prof. Campbell Bonner, Greek, and Prof. A. E. R. Boak, history.
Others granted leaves for the second semester are Prof. Walter B. Ford and Prof. Vincent C. Poor, mathematics; Prof. W. H. Worrell, semitics; Prof. Hugh E. Keeler, mechanical engineering; Prof. Orlando W. Stephenson, education; Prof. Howard M. Wight, forestry, and Prof. L. H. Strong, anatomy.
