Mercywood Nearly Completed

With brickwork completed and decorators in, the huge addition to Mereywood Hospital, 4038 Jackson Rd., nears completion. The reinforced concrete structure extends 271 feet west of the original building. It has 75 bedrooms, each with bath, compared to 50 in the old building. Here are some of the other facilities: boiler room, laundry, two elevators, emergency surgery room, laboratory, special diet kitchens, pharmacy, patients' auditorium, electro and hydro-therapy rooms, chapel wing, patient solariums, doctors' lounge and library, medical research library and dining rooms. The architect is Albert J. Basso of Detroit, and the Star Engineering Co. of Detroit is the general construction firm.
