'Flunks' Lie Test, Then Pleads Guilty
A 52-year-old Ann Arbor barber, John B. Easley of 602 Gott St., pleaded guilty to charges of possessing betting memoranda in circuit court yesterday shortly after "flunking” a lie detector test.
Easley, who stood mute to the charge earlier, changed his plea after the trial was under way. He was freed on $500 property bond and was scheduled to hear sentence on Jan. 26.
Prosecutor Edmond F. DeVine said Easley agreed to the lie test, taken at the Redford State Police post, after the trial had been started before a jury.
Car lottery tickets issued in Detroit and a numbers slip were found on Easley when arrested on April 4 on an assault and battery charge, according to Ann Arbor police.
