[image]  One of the city’s oldest residents, Albert Kempfert of 925 Wall St., observes his 93rd birthday today. He holds a prayer book given him by his late wife’s father at the time of their wedding in 1886.

He Merits 93 Candles On Birthday Cake

Today’s the birthday of a man who has probably lived in Ann Arbor about as long as anyone in the city. He’s Albert Kempfert of 925 Wall St., and he is 93 years old today.

Mr. Kempfert, who has lived here since his youth, will celebrate his 93rd anniversary in the company of relatives at his home, where he lives with his daughter, Mrs. Elsa Richmond.

Formerly active in real estate, he now owns six properties on the north side of the city. He was born on this date in 1860 in Germany, coming to Ann Arbor as a youth. His late wife, the former Mathilda Hintz, died in 1948.

One of Mr. Kempfert’s prized possessions is a prayer book given to him by his wife’s father at the wedding, a custom of that time.

In spry health, Mr. Kempfert now spends much of his time reading and watching television.
