Emerging Writers Workshop: Showing & Telling in Fiction
Monday April 6, 2020: 7:00pm to 8:30pm
Westgate Branch: West Side Room
“Show don’t tell” is the oldest advice in fiction writing, but is it always good advice? In this workshop, Alex Kourvo will explain the difference between showing and telling in fiction, why showing is so powerful, and why telling is useful too. Authors will learn how to combine showing and telling for compelling fiction that leaps off the page.
This is part of the monthly Emerging Writers Workshops, which offer support, learning, and advice for local authors. Each month, two weeks after the workshop, there is a meet-up where the instructors will read samples of your work and offer advice and assistance in a casual, supportive atmosphere.
