Description

Danish hygge cozy

Have you heard of the Danish concept of hygge?

Hygge is the Danish word for cozy. It is also a Danish national manifesto expressed in the constant pursuit of homespun pleasures involving candlelight, fires, fuzzy knitted socks, porridge, warm drinks, cake, and other people. The concept is universal to Scandinavia and not limited to Denmark.

Adults please join us for some quiet, cozy times at the Downtown Library with a virtual fireplace, real warm drinks, sweet treats, and mellow music playing in the background.

Local crafter, Beth Battey, will be on-hand teaching and helping with crochet or knitting projects, and you can also do jigsaw puzzles or quietly read.

Comments

Hygge is such a nice word. I'm currently in a long-distance relationship with a Danish guy. The Danes really love and use their awesome word: "Hygge"! :-)

Hello! At the moment the Downtown space is optimal because it's larger for our crowds and has three screens to accomplish the ambience we plan for. We'll keep it in mind for future planning. Thanks for using your library!
