Here, Banta Singh Pandher, 29-year-old engineering student from Badali in India's East Punjab, awaits oil-station service for his altogether American automobile. The bearded and be-turbaned Pandher is a Sigh- a member of a 450-year-old Hindu sect noted for military prowess and total disregard of caste distinctions.
