How has manliness evolved over the years and where are we in 2020?
This conversation will be guided by Charles Cheek, LMFTA, a therapist of African American descent. The interactive discussion will focus on the evolving standards of masculinity, masculinity’s role in the development of gender identity, identifying toxic masculinity, and multicultural perspectives.
The space will be an opportunity for an open dialogue to explore some of the following topics:
- Debunking the myth that mental illness is a sign of weakness
- The P.R.I.D.E. of Fatherhood Model
- The changing norms of masculinity in the emerging era of #metoo.
- Intersection of race and gender (Machismo trends, hip-hop’s strong positive/negative influence, etc.)
