Jesse Thorn has been a leading light in the podcasting community since he started podcasting in 2004. As the host of NPR's Bullseye, Judge John Hodgman and Jordan, Jesse Go!, and the owner of the pioneering podcast network MaximumFun.org, he has been called "The most important person in entertainment you've never heard of" by Fast Company. But now you have heard of him — and he's coming to the AADL! Thorn shares lessons learned from nearly two decades of podcasting to help you figure out how to start (or build, or refine) your very own podcast the right way.
Bullseye (then called The Sound of Young America) was one of the first public radio shows to be podcast, and national distribution in 2007 made Thorn the youngest national host in public radio history. Since then, his audience-supported podcast network has developed and distributed dozens of successful shows, including Sawbones, Dr. Gameshow, FANTI, Baby Geniuses, and My Brother, My Brother and Me. Come learn what the pros wish they'd known when they were getting started - the key insights about making great shows that go beyond what microphone to buy. (If you want, he will tell you what microphone to buy. A Shure SM7.)
