Moro than thirty years ago I became convinced of thc presence of invisible beings who have brought comfort and help to me often when on the point of dispair. An unusual unount of sorrow and iiii.sf'ortune has fallen to my lot, bat faith iu an overruling Providence, in a Father'w Idvp, and convinced of the nearness and love of Ilis ministering angels, I have walked wlth a steadfast purpose in the path of duty no matter wliere it led. Those who know nothing of this high privilege can know not hinu of the peace and joy that sings a conliuual song of thanksgiving and praiae in my heart, beariug me abovu the inany trials and tetnptations ttiat beset those who rely apon thcir own strength forsufety. liapy who do not believe in spiritual henomena (that is the communion of ;ood spirits with the children of eartli) idlcule and sneer at the alleged possibility of auch a thing, and hold in denion the "medium" who dares to assume uch marve'ous power and, asortbiüg it to he power of darkness, say they "never knew auy thing gooil to come of it. " When thu lessons that reach us are full of uspirations of faith in God and Hts provdences of love to our fellow beings; of charity towaid all men; of kind words for he erring; cheering and encouraging the lispairing; healing the sick and strengthening the weak; bnnging light where all jefore was darkness; teaching us how to avoid the penalty of a broken law by keepng the law unbroken; how eau anyone say there is uo good in all tuis? What eacher, what book can do more? Nay, 'all things work togelher for good to them that love good." The ureatstudy of mankind i, how can we live best and mikt' the world better and happier? How to.best worship Iliin, the glorious creator of this wonderful woi ld, and obey the aws of our beiug so that we eau secure immunity f rom sin and sorrowï God lad a purpose in the life of evcry living creature.
